The Theodore Brevard Hayne, M.D. Correspondence, 1906-1951, 1995, .25 cubic feet, consists of Dr. Hayne's correspondence, both personal and professional, as well as photocopies of his correspondence. Correspondents include Dr. Hayne's mother, father, wife, and colleagues, and the letters span the period from his childhood until his death in 1930. The collection also includes two letters written to his family after his death. The collection also includes transcripts of many of Dr. Hayne's letters. Dr. Charles S. Bryan, Hayne's biographer, completed the transcription. The original correspondence has been arranged chronologically, followed by the photocopies and transcripts. Original copies of the photocopied letters are in the possession of the Hayne family.

Theodore Brevard Hayne was born on August 3, 1898 to Dr. and Mrs. James Adams Hayne in Blackstock, South Carolina. As a child Theodore attended school in Washington D.C., Greenville, South Carolina, and in Panama where his father worked. At the age of twelve Theodore attended The Porter Military College for four years and later attended The Citadel from which he graduated in 1920.
